She didn't know he was going to be here and he was sure that if she did then she would not come. If she would come anyway, since the Games he had not seen her anywhere. Marshal had been plauged with something that he did not know was possible for him, Guilt, Regret. Normally this would not sit well with him but with Vixen he just could not get her out of his head. It was driving him insane, so he had to do something about it. Marshal had slipped a note under her dorm room door, in fact he was sure she had recieved it for since the Games he had not seen her round anywhere. She would blame herself for that witch's death, and she would blame Marshal for dragging her into the games. He didn't choose, it was not something he would have wanted for her. She only had to stay long enough for him to explain, as long as she did not walk away.
Vixen,
Serenity Cafe. 9pm.
That was all the note had said, he did not sign his name for she would not come if that was the case. 9pm was safe for him, it was just after dark so very few people would be in the Cafe, but it was also a time that she would not be in classes or asleep. He wanted to talk to her, which ... in itself was not like Marshal at all. He was sadistic, evil, twisted. So why did this one girl effect him like she did?
Sitting in the Cafe he thummed a cup of coffee absently, it was cold by now and remained untouched. Marsh did not need coffee to stay awake, he just wanted something to do while he was waiting for her, he would wait for hours ... if she did not come then he would seek her out. Marshal was the only customer in the Cafe at the moment. It would not be hard for her to decide who it was that had sent her the note.

What had happened that night, why had she been put through that, why had he put her through that. She didn’t deserve any of this she hadn’t done anything to him, she had just flirted harmlessly with him that night and suddenly there she was forced to fight for her life in a maze of turns and twists that at any moment could kill her without a chance to realize what had happened to you. Ebony hadn’t made it out; she had watched her die she had been the one to choose that path and ebony had raced ahead thinking it was a way out, though the only thing that she met was her demise. Vixen had broken down sitting there in the corner not daring to move, she couldn’t believe that she was alone and the voice that registered over the speaker was familiar. As soon as she put a face to that name she swore out loud, staring up at the roof she swore that she would never trust anyone again. She had made it out that night and she had run, run for her life and hadn’t stopped till she got home.
She had moved dorms changed her room so that he didn’t know where she was, she hadn’t told a soul and locked the door and it had remained that way ever since then. She had curled up in the corner of her closet and closed the windows locking it and kept away from everyone, she was gaunt her eating disorder taking a toll on her seeing as she wasn’t eating at all at that time. She had stepped out of the dorm to get a drink the only sustenance she had consumed in days and a girl had approached her asking if she was vixen and then holding out a card. It was simply put where to meet and the time and she had sat for hours that day just staring at that card, wondering if it was a trick because she hadn’t died in the games they were waiting to take her away and this time no one would ever find her.
Pulling on a pair of skinnies and a black sweater with three buttons which she wore over a plain purple shirt. You could see how skinny she was her hip bones showed clearly and her ribs were visible just above her breasts. Crossing her arm’s across her chest she stepped out of the dorm and slid into her car, hearing the engine roar to life she backed it up and found out that this would prove to be an easy get away though she doubted that she was faster than any of them. Parking around the corner she slid form the car pocketing the keys and then heading for the door, pulling it open she scanned the store as she door swung shut and rounded a booth and spotted the only person she had his in her dorm to avoid, “No, how dare you, your fucking unbelievable, that night we met was a joke you didn’t care you just wanted to put me in that horrid game ” She narrowed her eyes her breath coming in gasps as she looked at him and then backed up. She knew what he was, who he was and she wasn’t in any position to say anything to him seeing as he could kill her without a second glance. Taking a deep breath she pushed the fear aside and threw the card at him, “if your here to kill me do it now because god knows I’m not running away” Her voice was edgy, she was scared but at the same time she couldn’t believe that he had lead her on like that.

There was an engine that was cut short outside the cafe, a sharp inhale told him that she was coming, and that meant that she did not know who had sent the note to her. Mentally, Marshal braced himself for her fury and for her fear, as soon as the door opened - even though he did not look up he could smell the fear radiating off her body. With anyone els this would have enticed him, would have killed them wihout a second thought. But, with her he wanted to simply take her and show her that what happened, it was a mistake. Had Marshal not been the one running the game then there was no way that she would have gotten out alive, she would have died and perished, like all the others. At this thought Marshal felt a flash of anger surge through him, Vixen did not realise how lucky she was, nobody had ever got out of Marshal's game alive, only her.
Finally he heard her words and he looked up, although he did not flinch, her words were lke a slap in the face. But the biggest effect on him was her appearance. Even through her clothes he could see how skinny she was, he could see the outline of her ribs and her collarbone. He could not help but let a frown crease his forehead as he appraised her appearance. This was not what he wanted, he had to explain, had to get her healthy. "I am not here to kill you Vix. I'm here to explain." Would she listen, he assumed that she would simply fume at him, she would yell and scream until she was hoarse nd he would let her. Fuck, he would let her for underneath her strong demeanor he saw her true emotion. She was afraid of him. That stung him more than you could imagine.
Reflexes kicked in and he caught the card in his hand, he did not glance at it, for he knew what it would say. It was what he had written after all. Slowly he stood up and approached her, his hands were held palms up - defenceless. He would not hurt her again, he would explain and then he would leave her life forever, whatever she wanted, he would do it. He stopped about three meters from her and stood there, his eyes watching her. "You would not have got ot of there if it wasn't for me." His words were quiet and tight, trying to keep the emotion from his voice, trying not to reveal what those hours had done to him.
---
From the moment he had walked into the game and saw Vixen he had not known what to do. He could hardly cancel the game for not only would that ruin his reputation, but then the rest of the Execution Squad would come after her and they would kill her for making him show weakness. What he had done had almost severed him but it had been what was best for her. Had she ever wondered why, after Ebony's death there had not been any danger that could kill her or injure her mortally. In a way, he had saved her life.

She couldn’t believe that it was him that sat there, after her put her in that horid game after he put her through all of that, all that she was going through right now and here she was standing her infront of him and not running for her life, she was terrified of him and didn’t know what kept her here, right now it was the fact that she couldn’t walk away without hearing what he had to say and the other half was that she wasn’t about to give up her fight just to run away, she had been running for far to long in her life and she was getting sick and tired of it right now. She wasn’t about to give up another fight and just leave like she had so many times before. This was so hard for her she was almost shaking but she held herself from it and kept her feet planted firmly on the ground.
She stepped a foot back her eyes never leaving him as he stood up and turned toward her, she saw the coffee on the table, it was full and looked like it had just been sitting there. He was afterall a vampire and didn’t eat or drink at all, she didn’t find that to be a problem it was the fact of his attitude and the fact that he had the strength to kill her without any effort what so ever . Looking up at him she clasped her hands behind her back trying not to play with her hair as she waited for him to speak, “there is nothing to explain about Marshall, i ca’t believe i let myself think such a thing”
Her voice broke as she listened as she stepped another step back, looking around to the people that worked here they watched her and Marshall and then looked away, they probably knew who he was and didn’t want to get on his bad side. Looking back to him she felt a few strands of brown hair falling into her eyes as she didn’t bother to push it from her pale face as she waited for him. She watched him catch the card without a second look and then look back to her. “How am i supposed to trust you when you say something like that” It was true he wasn’t to be trusted and even he knew something like that, she didn’t know if he was just going to try and get her trust again and then hurt her because that was sure what he felt like to her right now.

He could feel the frustration building inside of him, he could feel annoyance at her reactions. But then, this was what he had expected, she was a human, she could not be expected to understand the intricacies of Marshal. Yet still, that irrational frustration, she needed to understand yet that stubborness that had always attracted him was getting in her way. Vixen was not seeing past the resolution that her brain gave her, if he could only make her see. Fists clenched and unclenched by his side and he gave an inaudible sigh of frustration at her words. Nothing to explain? There was everything to explain, the only problem was that he had no clue how he was going to prove it to her. Marshal was good with words, but pleading with someone to do what he wanted had never been a strong point. Forcefulness he could deal with, but this required subtlty and there was where his problem lay.
Marshal closed the gap between them and he raised his right hand, brushing that spare strand of hair behind her ears and in the same movement he held her chin gently with his hand. With enough force that she would not be able to look away. "You do not believe me? Then how is it that the problems you faced in the maze, after .. Ebony. Were not life threatning? How come you did not get physically hurt Vixen?" His words were soft and firm, trying to drill it into her that yes, she should be mad. But at the moment she was killing herself, starving herself and isolating herself. Marshal needed to make her understand that all of this, had never been any of his idea. Up until he'd walked through that door he had not even known that it would be Vixen who was in this Game.
Slowly he closed his eyes and shook his head, when he opened them again they still stared back at her but he dropped his hand and stepped back from her. Nobody else would ever see Marshal this weak. Perhaps that would prove to her, would show his point. "You must understand. I tried so hard to keep you safe, but i had to make some challange or they would know. They would have killed you themselves." At the last sentence there was a tightness in his voice, a threat to those who he counted among his 'allies' if they lay even a finger upon her, he would kill them. No second thoughts. "Tell me you understand, and i swear i will leave this second and i will never bother you again."
