Cecilia wandered down the mostly empty hallways after the last bell had wrung for the day. She had no desire to go back to her room at the moment but didn’t really have anything else to do. Her cane tapped softly in front of her as she turned down one hallway, making the decision to go outside. The day she had gotten to Forevermore Sissy had made sure to memorize the layout of the place. Sissy was pretty sure she didn’t want to be stuck asking someone for help.
The main reason Sissy wanted to go outside was to shift. As soon as she hit the forest Cecilia was planning on turning into her magnificent Snow Leopard form. Besides just wanting to play around in the snow she was getting antsy from not shifting in so long. It had been a couple weeks and already her skin felt wrong on her bones. Sissy was far too used to the massive bulk of the Snow Leopard, the soft coat, the large paws and tail. She loved escaping into her second form. Sometimes she felt more at home there than in her human one.
Sissy walked faster down the corridor, though she was too lost in her thoughts to be paying any attention to her surroundings. If she would have been, her sharp nose would have picked up the scent of another person in font of her. As it was she didn’t register the scent at all.
Her cane tapped in front of her and caught on a shoe. Maybe if she had been more observant she would have been able to catch herself, maybe not. Either way, she tumbled forward, her cane falling from her hand as she fell onto the person in front of her. Sissy righted herself immediately, her cheeks automatically turning a bright flame red with embarrassment.
Beneath her extreme mortification Cecilia remembered that she had dropped her cane. Crouching down to feel for it, Sissy let her hair fall over her still uncomfortably bright cheeks. Sissy realized she should probably apologize for her little tumble and her cheeks got, if possible, redder. “Umm, I’m sorry for running into you.” She managed to say in a strangled voice, her Louisiana acent thicker than it usually was from embarrassment.
